Can you find the 12 animals of the Chinese lunar calendar that are hidden in the Garden?

Discover the magic of the Chinese zodiac at the Chinese Garden of Friendship with the engaging Emperor’s Quest, a fun and educational journey perfect for families visiting Darling Harbour. Hidden throughout the tranquil garden are the 12 animals of the Chinese lunar calendar, each with its own unique character, rich stories, and legends. Which animal represents you?

The Emperor’s Quest invites children aged 5 to 12 years to explore the ancient world of the Chinese zodiac, also known as ‘Sheng Xiao’ or ‘birth sign’. Armed with a special Emperor’s Quest map and viewfinder, young adventurers can follow the winding garden pathways, searching for the hidden sculptures that tell fascinating tales about the zodiac animals and the secrets of this beautiful garden.

As you discover each sculpture using the clues provided, you’ll learn more about the zodiac’s significance and reveal which animal corresponds to you, your siblings, parents, and friends. Successfully finding all 12 sculptures means you’ve completed the quest and unlocked the full story behind these treasured cultural symbols.

The quest is included with garden entry and is available during normal opening hours. It offers a delightful way for children and families to connect with Chinese culture and heritage while enjoying the peaceful beauty of the garden. All children must be accompanied by an adult, ensuring a safe and memorable outing.

After your visit, we encourage you to share your experience on Tripadvisor to help others discover the serene charm and cultural richness of the Chinese Garden of Friendship.
